A simple silver canvas floater frame for art 3/4" thick or less. This silver wood floater frame offers the contemporary look and smooth lines of a floater frame while providing a traditional silver finish.

The history of the floater frame look originated in the mid-20th century as expressionists and color field painters explored vast expanses of color and movement. The sheer size of paintings in this era made framing cost-prohibitive for struggling artists, and so a new aesthetic was born of economical wood strips. This style, known as the baguette style, later evolved into the floater frame profile design offered today.

In addition to framing canvases and rigid panels or canvas boards, this silver canvas floater frame may also be used in combination with another frame to provide a stacked look that may elaborate on a particular theme or decorative quality.

Additional considerations include the size of your art, whether it’s original or a giclee print on stretched canvas, and whether a limited art depth dictates the need for blocks between the art and frame to raise the picture plane closer to the face of the floater frame profile. All of these considerations may be accommodated at Web Picture Frames.
