This off-white oatmeal linen fabric frame liner is an excellent addition to deep wood picture frames where an additional border next to the frame is preferred for original paintings on canvas and giclee prints on canvas. Whereas works on paper typically get mats and glazing, canvas paintings can have a frame liner in which the fabric is adhered to a wood substrate.
This fabric frame liner is 2” wide, is 5/8” deep on the outside wall, and the rabbet depth is ¼”. With the use of offset clips, this frame liner may accommodate a deep canvas; however, it’s important to consider the rabbet depth of the frame itself, in order to accommodate both the depth of the frame liner and the stretched canvas.
Technically, you will want the rabbet depth of your frame to be 3/8” deeper than the depth of your canvas, since the difference between the outside wall depth and the rabbet depth of your fabric frame liner is 3/8”. Choosing a more shallow frame depth would merely mean that the canvas might protrude out the back of the frame slightly.
Frames you might consider with this off-white oatmeal linen fabric frame liner include our solid cherry V488, gold V1401, iron V598, black V676, charcoal V1321, beaded plum V132, gray cherry V489, and black V778. Fillets that may fit nicely under the lip of this fabric frame liner include F101, F102, F103, F104, F107, and F109.
