This scooped black wood picture framing fillet offers a smooth satin finish and a high-contrast accent to light-colored mats and fabric frame liners. The width of this fillet is ¼”.
Fillets are utilized in mat designs on the perimeter of a mat window for works on paper, and at the inside lip of a fabric frame liner for works on canvas or panel. Fillets may also be placed directly against the lip of a frame to add dimension and volume to a profile.
Stacked combinations that might set off your artwork and photos include pairing this black wood fillet with a 2” white fabric liner Linc-wt and black frame V1300. Another pairing would be with Linb-wt White and V176 Black.
When ordering an acid-free mat and fillet combination, you can choose a top mat with a fillet, or a top mat with a fillet and a bottom mat. The benefit of having a mat under the fillet is to protect the art from long-term acid migration from the wood of the fillet. However, filler material such as scrap foam core or mat board will be required between the two mats if placing a fillet between them, to match the thickness of the fillet.
