Canvas float frame for art 3/4" thick or less. This affordable dark espresso brown canvas float frame has a face that is 5/16” wide across the face. The depth accommodates art material no thicker than ¾” total.
In fact, oil or acrylic paintings with a 5/8” stretcher bar thickness are ideal for this canvas float frame. Especially considering the overlap of canvas on the front and back of the art that adds additional depth. If your stretcher bar and canvas are greater than exactly ¾” when combined at the corners, you might consider a deeper floater frame such as V818 or V823.
Canvas float picture frames are not compatible with all frame designs such as mats and glass. The specific use of a floater frame such as this wood floater frame requires that the item be singular rather than a culmination of layers as seen with matted items with glass. Floater frames do not have a lip to hold multiple layers.
Finally, consider all the types of art that can be framed as a canvas float. Floater frames are not only for original paintings on canvas; they are also for digital giclee prints on canvas, original fine art on rigid art panels and canvas boards, and also for laminated prints and posters that are mounted to foam core or gatorboard and then trimmed to the image.
