This shiny distressed red wood picture frame by Larson Juhl offers a contemporary profile with a lacquered finish inspired by antique Asian furniture. The flat face of the profile is 1” wide, and features the look of black wood grain and black distress markings along the edges of an otherwise bright red finish over a gesso base coat. The rabbet depth is 1 3/8”.
Applications for this contemporary distressed red lacquered wood picture frame vary considerably. Certainly you could frame a bold Sumi ink wash painting on rice paper, or a poster or print of similar artwork, but this frame may also pair nicely with dark values and saturated colors such as dark oil paintings and acrylic paintings on canvas.
