This genuine solid cherry hardwood picture frame moulding features a warm, light, genuine grain pattern with a deep gallery profile that’s ideal for matted contemporary works on paper, color and black & white photography, and original oil and acrylic paintings on canvas.
This moulding was harvested from the Cumberland Gap region of the Appalachian Mountains, which is a narrow stretch of land that covers several Southern states. This genuine cherry hardwood offers a look of understated beauty and contemporary simplicity. The clear, natural finish merely protects the grain of the wood and does not affect the aesthetics or natural color of the cherry wood pattern.
The profile width is 3/4” and the rabbet depth is a generous 1-1/4”, making this profile ideal for stretched canvases over stretcher bar, and also for floated artwork like watercolor paintings with a deckled edge. The warmth of the profile also pairs well with pastoral landscapes, summer imagery, and bright and hopeful colors. For this same solid cherry hardwood moulding profile in a soothing, cool gray finish, consider V489. We also offer this profile in solid oak with V490.
Finally, consider this genuine solid cherry hardwood moulding profile if you are an artist seeking a uniform look for all your shows. Relative to other solid woods such as walnut, V488 is very affordable. This profile is an excellent choice as an artist's signature frame, and is appropriate for gallery exhibitions.
