This DIY floating picture frame is finished with a clear coating. It's ideal for art 3/4" thick or less. This natural wood floater frame will accommodate stretched canvas paintings and cradled panel paintings up to 3/4” deep.

Artwork that could look especially appealing in this DIY floating picture frame includes original works on rigid board such as collage, encaustic wax, acrylic, oil, and other mediums that don’t require glass or mats. DIY floating picture frames are not compatible with glass and mats because there is no front lip to hold in multiple layers. For this reason, a floater frame is not recommended for works on paper unless those works are laminated or clear-coated.

For art materials that are not 3/4” deep, offset clips will be provided so that your artwork will sit slightly back from the plane of the floater face. For example, art pieces that are 1/2” thick will come with offset clips that raise the painting one inch. You can specify your art thickness in the Art Securing tab on the project page.
